  1. Hey Steve! You did a great job on these and, really, after all the work you put into them, you plan to flip them? They sound great, and are a long term investment. Personally, I'd keep these for a very long time, which is what I plan to do with mine. Cheers, Glenn
  2. They will get better as the surrounds loosen up a bit. Good to hear you're liking them so much! I've thought the same thing regarding persuing the 11's and 10pi's, but I'm being really good and not getting any more speakers for now. Great to see another one year wonder singing again! Glenn
  3. The originals are specific to the 12 as well as the mids.
  4. Hi Roy! Excellent news you'll be attending. And again, thanks for your help on the 3's. Reading all the bad news of late regarding the mids, I'm feeling pretty lucky you were able to get the one working that I attempted to repair. Glenn
  5. I had been trying to get Roy to attend a Frankenfest for several years,. It the timing didn't work out for Roy. I couldn't agree with you more regarding Roys generosity. Glenn
  6. Thanks ra ra! It was great to see you again and finally meet Roy. Glad you both got to hear the 3's. I'm going to try to convince Roy, to come to the Peekskill Blue Mountain AK gathering on September 15th. Glenn
  7. A short update. These continue to sound phenominal. Roys mids have held up well, sounding just as they did when first reinstalled. I brought them to the last Frankenfest, and finally got to meet Roy in person, and he got to hear these 3's.
  8. Also lots of pics in my resto thread for reference if needed. Great sounding speakers. Glenn
  9. Quite a project David, and looking good. Did you sort out the tweeters yet? Unfortunate the replacements weren't up to snuff. Seemed promising. Glenn
  10. Hi David, Very nice set of 12's. These will be an easy restoration. The woofer dust caps are cosmetic and easy to pop out when you cut them and the flat caps underneath for shimming. I always leave a little attached to act as a hinge so realignment when regluing is easy. I sent you the mid surround info a week or two ago. I'll get to your mid and tweeter foams in the next couple weeks. Vacation coming up etc... Cheers, Glenn
  11. As a reference, The AR room was at the opposite end of the current Apple store.
  12. I really enjoyed reading your history lesson here! A pair of 3's filling GCT with music is a testament to their capabilities and performance! Unfortunately I was too young to remember it. I was in 10th grade in 1974. We did go to the city often on metro north, just wasn't aware of it. Glenn
  13. Last we heard from Gabriel was Oct 22. I guess he worked them out and had no more questions. Robert, an amazing amount of information, that will benefit many others with the 6's. Glenn
  14. I've been listening to these a lot the last couple weeks, and I must say, they are spectacular. Gobs of deep tight bass, a wide and dimensional soundstage, and the highs are crystal clear without fatigue.it really is a shame these were only a one year wonder. Ok, I'm done now, back to the music!
  15. Looks like they are gone. I hope a member here or on AK grabbed them.
  16. Thanks Robert! I just checked the 12 listing and they lowered the price to 350.00. Thanks for the tip on the mid driver. I'll take a look. That song sounds great, good to hear it sounded good on a set of computer speakers! Glenn
  17. I worked at home today with the nor'easter and listened to the 12's all day. They are really so good. Extremely detailed, and the punchy deep bass is amazing! I hope someone in the group comes to their senses and grabs these rare gems!
  18. If you haven't heard a set of 12's, you may want to go audition these. Extremely good sounding speakers.
  19. They are still listed. 400.00. They need minor cosmetic work, new decorative foam on the mids and tweeter faces. Original foam grills are in tact. Otherwise they look good. Glenn
  20. A heads up gents! Pretty nice set of the rare 12's with refoamed woofers and mids done by Millersound. They have the original foam grills and they are in overall nice condition. You don't see these often so here's an opportunity to own these rare speakers. Glenn
  21. Thanks! There were an enjoyable project. Are you the original owner, and what condition are they in! Still have the original foam grills? Cheers, Glenn
  22. I've got a few priorities with some amp repairs, but I definitely want to send my 3 tweeters to Chris. I recently restored a set of 3as and had Chris restore the tweeters, which sounded great once the project was completed. Roy restored a set of mids for one of my set of 3's, and the mids for the earlier pair will need his attention as well. Its extremely exciting to think these 50+ year old speakers can sound virtually brand new again thanks to these two gents!
  23. That's where I've harvested all my old veneer. Old trashed or re-veneered speaker projects are perfect because it ha aged and will blend in well with the surrounding veneer. I've put out requests as well for veneer from people I know are doing a re-veneer, send the old stuff to me! Glenn
