  1. So....did you figure out the problem??? AR9s make plenty of lows...but it very important to position them in the room properly. They also benefit from a touch of eq.
  2. hey Frank I dont know about the italian/roman story, but the rumor is that guy likes a souvlaki every once and a while, chasing it with a ouzo....... another rumor is he may actually be a Jersey guy originally. furthermore, the rumor is he has "stacked" Carvers and ended up shaking a rare greek vase off the upstairs living room table.
  3. lack of Bass. 1 ft on either side.....thats not aweful. 1 check and make sure your polarity is correct. 2. dont be afraid to add 1 to 2 db to lower 3 slides on eq. 3 placement is important, but I find it hard to believe you have a huge lack of bass..if everything else is correct. as for the AR9LSI....the forward firing woofer and downfiring 10 are hard to beat in terms of ease of placement. The ar9LS is easy to find and less $ do number 1 and 2 first.
  4. I see that. Well, all I can tell you is the AR9LS i is a beast to tame, ive commented extensively on that in other threads. Once tamed, tuned...there may never had been better....or ever. I tamed mine. 4 times inside the Kings cabinet. No denying the 3 is good, or at least 3a that i know, but its just not as accurate. Great tones, but the 4 way is more precise/accurate. AR did not release the LS series ready to rock. Do keep us posted.
  5. You can go down 12 different rabbit holes. My advice? Dayton Npe caps, refoam them good and you will get incredible results. You can spend more hard earned dough, but from my experience you will most certainly pleased with this route. The original caps are shot, trust me. Think about a good amp. I like the carver tfm 42 for the AR9. The 4.0 is great too. Youll need that endless power. Theres a guy out in ohio that recaps them. I think mine measured close to 550...575 @ 4 ohms.....much higher on peaks. Clean power with great sound. Ultra reliable. Other amps i tried didnt sound as good. I did like the kenwood basic m2a alot, but didnt have the A$$ carver has.
  6. I will add my opinion on amps. I have tried several on my AR 9s. The best one i have heard is the Carver Tfm 42. Its close on the Carver 4.0 , but that works awesome on the AR9LSI. There is a guy out in Ohio that redoes them. He did mine, sound is exceptional. As for caps....hot topic. Plenty of threads on that. Enjoy your 9s
  7. AR55 I looked up that review. He was pretty spot on, especially in the Bass I personally cant take the 98 ls,9ls without adding resistence to the mid dome. Love it after i put 3 ohms to it. Glad to see 9lsi owners out here.
  8. .....any case, I would not be surprised at all if most audiophiles would say, due to the "improved" suggestion, that the 9LS sounds better with the 9LSI crossover...😀! Luigi.....i owned both. There is no comparison in sound quality. I get your point on audiophiles, but in this case its a dramatic difference. In fact i run a touch more resistor on middome in mine. I think Adams stated the LSI mod puts it about even with a AR9 in output......yep..he is right. Without the mod, its ridiculous.. Its flat harsh in LS form. I dont care if they wired it in 7 loops, its better.
  9. https://youtu.be/6rB2W0umdq0?t=204 wires. what did we learn?https://youtu.be/ZyWt3kANA3Q?t=1677
  10. well....Chris......congrads......nice grab. Prepare yourself for some ground shaking Bass, that is very detailed. The wide soundstage these produce is unmatched in all the AR's I have owned, and the tweeter and its circuit is sweet. Its not quite as sterile as the AR9, but its very pleasing and warm. The LS series is underrated due to the mid dome being too strong....since they didnt have switches people shunned them I guess. Takes some experimentation to get it right for the room-and taste. You may find the Mid dome circuit needs a little calming, you may want to experiment with some resistors.... and I think your on the right track with NPE caps. Originals arent too bad, Japan. I know these inside out and Only thing I am curious is if they will outperform the LST in terms of Soundstage in YOUR opinion. The LST with its side panels...interesting. The rest I already know. I run a set of ar9ls in the garage too...original caps....pretty good. superior to those silly yellow turds from Erse.
  11. Thats an interesting pair. 9LS special edition, sure looks like a 9 LSI....however the wood veneer is different. I dont know who the csp person is....but those need Alot of work. If done right, they will be incredible speakers. And I mean Incredible.
