Well couple of questions. What kind of cap and how and what did you use to test them? -
Try rotating the woofer. Sometimes the spider gets loose. That does happen by it also be loose so replying it may be the fix.

File is too big max size is 199.76. Try resizing to 100k

Hmmm, These may be the same woofers as the A25 model. How is it misbehaving? One seller has a p/n 509199 S Dynaco woofer on sale at the auction site.

Hi, Your pix should be no larger than 100k. Downsize them and try reloading. Your problem sounds like the "classic" voice coil rub from your description. Removing both the outer surround and the dust cover. Then shimming the voice coil then regluing may fix this. There are several threads with more info out there.

I had the pleasure of hearing Pete B's modded AR 11 speakers at the "Frankenfest" in Sutton Ma. I was very impressed, especially with the sound-stage they presented in a large room. My first time at a "Frankenfest"and hopefully not my last. -

Yes thx I am r_brumett61 and I haven’t been 61 for many many years. But no I believe no one has found the grill materials,but I could be wrong. I used to live in CT and was the manager of the Lafayette Radio store in Manchester in between my engineering jobs. Oh the days of buying items at cost or 50% off manufactured retail price were great or just out and out given we’re really nice. Lol

Thanks Pete, I know this has been discussed many times but I wish we had a good(close) replacement cloth for the Advent and KLH grill cloths. Oh well keep on looking I guess-lol. Hope to see and meet you on Sat. at the "Frankenfest" Rick

Well another way maybe using the AR 3a mid replacement from simply speakers(https://www.simplyspeakers.com/acoustic-research-replacement-midrange-12100103.html). Yes you may have to modify the cabinet but they may sound fantastic. If you want to restore your AR 3s then putting only original mids at great cost are the answer, but to at least bring them up to a good(maybe not original sound) this may work for you.

The midrange may be repairable, do not throw it away. Roy C may be able to fix the problem.
