  1. Thanks for the replies. I bought the PE replacements but you never know if you'll ever need a spare. I'm able to get a thin putty knife under the lip but it does budge upward much. Pliers feels like it will break the ball from the base. No sockets on the grille panels, just wood frames with a hole. I'm definitely going to reverse the peg and sockets.
  2. Does anyone know how to remove the grille pegs without damaging them or the cabinet?
  3. But you have to remove the staples first and that can be a time consuming PITA
  4. Using a soldering iron will create lots of smoke and who knows what they used to make that old hot melt. It's a bit different than today's hot melt.
  5. Been there, done that. While doing my 91's but it was not a bad burn. What will alleviate 'issues' is to work slowly, methodically and have zero expectations of how much work/progress you expect to make. I also had a good LED light inside the speaker.
  6. Do it in place. The hot melt glue holding the caps down can be made pliable by dribbling a small amount of isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) on it. Loosen caps with a small putty knife or screw driver. Work slowly and smart.
  7. Translation into English>>> "I disassembled several AR6's and, on two European production pairs, I found a filter scheme, which uses a 0.880 mH coil, for the 200001-1 woofer, and the 10 mF Sprague on the external wireless tweeter, phase inverted . On the woofer the 24 mF is not installed nor the 10 ohm R. All the crossover is a 6db / oct, and installs a three-position selector with 3 ohm 10W R."
  8. I have three 038 tweeters for sale. No dents in the domes. PM me if interested

    Ar10pi

Great speaker. Try them with a tube amp.

    Ar10pi

Do you want to sell them?
  11. For sale AR 8" woofer. Three available. Refoamed using polyether surrounds. $40 each plus actual shipping costs. PayPal preferred. PM me if interested. For sale AR tweeters. Three available. $50 each plus actual shipping cost. PayPal preferred. PM me if interested.
  12. It's probably easier and a better avenue to buy a pair of AR speakers if that's what you are wanting.
  13. I love my 10Pi speakers. Hooked up to a tube amp. I've never even tried them with an SS amp.
  14. Nice work Brian. The TSW series have the same style PCB and mounting configuration. A real PITA. The 9LSi does sound great and was easier to place in a room vs the AR9.
  15. I have a pair of 8" woofers used in the LS and LSi models, including the AR9LS. These came out of an AR94. They have new polyether foam surrounds. If you are interested send me a PM. Both have a DCR of about 4.6 or 4.8 (from memory). I can provide the exact ohm reading.
  16. That's why I do them in place. Some caps are hard to get to and slight burns is normal but, thankfully, not frequent.
  17. Nice ! The hiss could be one of several things but I don't think its the tweeter but it could be. AR speakers are getting top dollar now days. Your's look to be in very nice condition. They could fetch $2000 or maybe more.
  18. Good investment Frank ?

  20. Tweeters are protected by the capacitor as a non-polar cap will not pass DC. It holds/blocks it. Woofers are more likely to be damaged by DC current as they have no cap in series. It would be nice to see a pic or tell us what cap was used. It could shed some light. In the meantime has the OP taken a resistance measurement of the voice coil ?
  21. You may be able to find replacements on eBay. I'm betting you would want to get a tweeter that doesn't require a modification to the cabinet. Dimensions or a picture of the hole would be a great help.
