I won't get involved in a cap thread but you are a traditionalist and I thought I would mention something you might want to consider.  You can negotiate a volume deal with Chris1thisone, for original tweeter rebuilds and sell all those AR9 tweeters.  At current prices you would more than recoup the cost of the rebuilds which I believe are around $70/pair.  There are numerous advantages to this approach for someone who just wants to get things back to normal.

If you want more tweeter power afterward just keep the Microstats connected.

Well, I did that years ago when I first acquired the speakers and one by one they simply burned out.

The root of the problem with those original AR tweeters is they just don't handle the power I feed my speakers. No, I'm not crazy and listen to 'disco-levels' but, I sure do like to listen at realistic levels.

With 20 Hi-Vi and 20 AB-tech tweeters as spares that were all the talk here in 2005, I still feel I'd like to use the AR tweeters. Sadly, I may have to change my thinking and succumb to selling all except the ones I might use in my 3 pair of AR-3a's and continue with the 'Micro-Statics' as I've done since 1989 on the LST's and since 1974 with the AR-3a's.

The problem of the 'thump' is still present though. Any ideas?

      P.S. I appreciate your 'olive-branch'.
