Recovery woofer Ar200003 "messed up

Woofer di recupero Ar200003, passato nelle mani di uno pseudo tecnico domenica, uno scempio. Rimosso il ciarpame che aveva imbrattato su tutto il cono, tolto la sospensione in gomma SR250 di diametro più stretto, ricondizionato i ragni, ricostruito i bordi del cono, ricostruito e installato i bordi di masonite sul cestello che ne fanno uno spessore per il corretto posizionamento della bobina sul traferro, (lo pseudotecnico l'aveva rimossa per installare la sospensione in gomma SR250), installato la schiuma idonea, ricalibrato i parametri del woofer, e' stato un lavoro estenuante, ma il risultato e le misure sono a mio parere molto buono.

Also, what did you use to remove "the crap that he had smeared all over the cone"?  I've got AR woofers, that someone coated.  I'd like to get rid of it too.

Toluene, Acetone, Nitrol Thinner, Paint Stripper

I have some AR 10pi woofers that I need to clean up. I will experiment with Toluene and Citrus stripper. Will pick up some Acetone and Nitrol Thinner.

Sometimes, ethyl alcohol is sufficient.

ALL nasty solvents. Wear nitrile gloves at the minimum and a respirator with carbon cartridges and/or work outside.

Beware that acetone has a flash point of 0'F. I believe Nitrol thinner is a mix of xylene and methyl benzene. Toluene will pull fat out of your system right thru the skin and attacks all organs.

I find that 91% isopropyl alcohol usually works if 70% doesn't do the trick.   While not as nasty as the other solvents, inhaling large amounts of 91% isopropyl can cause all sorts of problems.

We keep all of those solvents at work.  There's a fume hood too.  So, if needed, I could come in on a Saturday and strip the woofers.

Attenzione che l'acetone ha un punto di infiammabilità di 0'F. Credo che il diluente Nitrol sia una miscela di xilene e metilbenzene. Il toluene estrarrà il grasso dal tuo sistema proprio attraverso la pelle e attaccherà tutti gli organi.

I worked in a coatings and printing facility and was the manager of 2 solvent recovery systems and a distillation system. Was also 'rewarded' with a dual role of EHS Manager. The problem with toluene is that they keep lowering the threshold limit value, over and over. So what was OK when I was working with it is now a dangerous environment.
