TimmyTonga
Hi, can anyone offer any techniques for removing extremely reluctant grilles? It has never been removed before, and is very deeply recessed and tight-fitting. I can't get any kind of grip on it at all. The other one I did just manage to get a corner up, but this one is not being so accommodating. many thanks/Tim
JKent
Check the AR-3a restoration guide in the Library. IIRC it suggests removing the screwed-on speaker badge and driving a screw into the hole, then use that as a knob to pull on. -Kent PS: Just checked. stupidhead
I have had good luck with paint can lid removal tools. the thinner the better and once inserted will act as a pry and lift tool. also a blow dryer to heat the edges and soften the glue will often help with stubborn grilles. DavidDru
both above nailed it, unless of course those have little staples or nails which my 2ax did and my 3's did not. Look closely. Doubt they do,
TimmyTonga
Thank you all for your timely input. The screw in the badge area did the job very nicely. t
