ellloko
Hello! I am new to the speaker world and have the opportunity to purchase these AR3a speakers. The owner says that the high range driver is not working on one of them. From what I can tell one is teak and one is walnut. He is asking $600 for them. I would like to get some opinions from the experts here before I make a decision.
samberger0357
Welcome. Pretty good price and certainly easy enough to repair/restore. Lots of folks here can direct you on what's entailed to make these speakers great again. And once restored properly, they are great.
RoyC
The woofers appear to have been re-foamed fairly recently, and the work looks pretty good from here. The tweeters' suspension foam is a bit rough, but that goes with the territory, and can be remedied if it proves to be a problem. The tweeter and mid level controls will probably require attention. In fact, the tweeter level control is the most likely cause of the non-responsive tweeter. Be prepared to do deal with some work inside the cabinets. Aadams
My two cents. Price in the range but $600 is a stretch because of this
genek
One looks more like pine with a stain to me.
