  1. Some lovely tonearms and yes totally agree with you , especially if you like vinyl I've tried many tonearms but just have a love for how AT arms perform , fwiw its an AT1100 in the pic with their heavier counterweight and S shape (detachable) arm tube and a detachable headshell which at 67 years old I'm finding pretty essential nowadays when it comes to fitting new cartridges !
  2. Ha boxes, as rare as the actual speakers ! just had the woofers refoamed as they'd been in storage for several years so pics forthcoming As for the rega arm , just basic not amazing on an AR whereas the AT1100 is so so much better , fantastic tonearms beautifully built sound amazing , heavier mass than your sme 3009 so more choices for carts/stylus , this and the AT1010 are my number one reasonably priced tonearm choices and sorry for wandering a bit off topic in your thread , it was the Thorens pic that did it
  3. had a go, def need some matt black on the masonite ring , good bad or wrong ...
  4. even the boxes are good these will hopefully sound nice with my AR tt will post some pics when all set up . the tt no longer has that rega arm btw its has an AT1100 on it
  5. Hi David , been watching lots of youtubes , clothes pegs ok thanks
  6. Thanks So thats masonite not wood How , with the mesh cage round the speaker do you lift the cone into position
  7. Hi first time for me , so a few questions , thanks Will the corrosion affect these or will I not know till I try Have I cleaned the outer surround edge where the new foam will sit enough, which appears to be made of wood and should I paint that bit black before refoam for aesthetics How do you lift up the cone with the mesh cage round the outside as the cone sits slightly lower the the edge surround Are the rear gaskets still available to buy Any recommendations on shimming or not on these , in fact any advise would be gratefully received
  8. I have this has it been posted is there any need for me to upload it for all ? edit found it on vinylengine so just ignore delete
  9. Pleased you came home safe from Vietnam Thanks again Thought they'd go nicely with my AR turntable
  10. It does , and yes Coil 6 is connected to their solder point Nice MGB and MGBGT got to put some wire wheels on the roadster they dont look right without them I had an MG Midget when I was 20 , great car , had the Morris Minor engine in it but being so light was very nippy , £60 ! Thanks again, wouldnt have known where to start without your help
  11. DavidR, so that small black cap that the writing says + 50V + NP + is the 20uf cap ? I've been in with a torch and a mirror but cant see 20uf written And on close examination yes it is connected to the 100uf cap and to the end/red lead of the central connector So is everything ok ? do I need to do anything How come they are so different , the blue 20uf cap being so huge in comparison , has this been a repair job at sometime , cant imagine they would make them so differently Serial number is 7235 I am so so grateful for your help
  12. Cant trace the wires on the blue cap to see if they end up in the same places as one of the speakers doesn't have a blue cap On the silver cap yes they do
  13. Aadams , wish there was , I did have good look DavidR , thats ok , the can middle left in the one without the blue cap looks to be 100uf the can in the speaker with the blue cap below, which without a mirror and an "endescope" I cant really see , the only thing I can see is the bottom number is different 7547 to 7552 but I cant see the uf as for the blue cap sorry but cant see the uf either
  14. Thanks for reply , sorry by it I mean the large blue capacitor in the front is only present in one of the speakers and missing in the other
  15. Hi all , new member , from the uk , and sorry but asking for help straight away Picked up pair of AR10pi that had been stored for some time , the previous owner having passed away so no history on these So main speakers needing a refoam so on taking them out inside the first one I see this and the other one so what do I need , why is it missing / completely taken out , not even wires left ? will/ can it work without it ? can I buy one if it is presumably needed , which surely it must be , thanks in advance for any help and advice Gary
