mk101
I just got a pair of these speakers. I could not find much info about them. I believe they used to be the Reference Speaker for Stereo Review to-review-speakers. I have AR 11 and remember the AR 10 Pi was top of the line at the time. The 10 Pi sound like the AR 11 with a better Bass. Will appreciate any comments or additional info about them.
ligs
I believe the reference speaker you mentioned was probably AR-LST-1.AR10Pi and AR11 used the same drivers but AR 10Pi had an auto transformer for not only mid and high range controls but also for bass control. It may also have a bank of large value capacitors which can control the subsonic region better. Many Infinity speakers have a large capacitor in the bass section as well. genek
The 10pi is essentially an 11 with additional tuning settings to adjust for different speaker placements. There is a schematic (drawn by a member, not an official AR doc) in the forums athttp://www.classicspeakerpages.net/IP.Board/index.php?showtopic=1520
ar_pro
The AR Pi/One actually preceeded the 10pi as the replacement for the 3a, and featured woofer, midrange, and tweeter controls. It didn't last long, and is rarely seen, now.
