cbtbackflow
I am assuming there is an issue with the amp. When the power is turned on, it makes a buzz/humming sound constantly. Anyone know of a correction that is cost effective considering the sub is from the 90's?Thanks!
JKent
Have you looked at the surrounds to see if they have deteriorated? That could cause buzzing. But constant humming sounds like bad power supply caps (either that or it forgot the words ). If you can find them it could be a simple & cheap fix. Kent if it's in the amp, it could be a lot of things, a bad ground could cause the interference, too, or perhaps poor shielding/bad connections on or in the RCA cable used to the amp....I doubt it's the driver....I think it uses the same 12" driver as my 312HO's, and those are showing 0 signs of foam rot after 13 years of use...can you bypass the amp and play it directly off a receiver? or have you tried using the speaker level inputs instead of the line level in?if the amp is bad, may be quicker/cheaper to replace it with another plate amp. I don't know if S12HO used a Carver Sunfire amp like the 315HO'shere's a potential replacement amphttp://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-
