I would imagine that most kids nowadays don't know what 6.3V or 12.6V is for ;-) (Though solid state is a lot safer now, as when an Eimac 4CX10000 ceramic tube breaks into oscillation, it makes one hell of a mess, and the power supply for it I couldn't physically pick up.).
