ironlake
is installing a 3a dome tweeter in place of the one in the 2 ax an legitimate upgrade. I see 2ax speakers on ebay with this and am questioning if it will work with the correct sound balance
RoyC
ironlake,I can assure you that you are not seeing AR-2ax cabinets with AR-3a tweeters installed unless it is stated as such in the item description. The 8 ohm 3/4" dome tweeter used in the later 2ax is physically identical to the 4 ohm AR-3a tweeter, so a photo would tell you nothing. Since there is a shortage of good AR-3a tweeters these days, I seriously doubt there are too many people installing them in 2ax's (although it can be done with a very minor crossover change). At any rate, even if someone were to do so it would not be considered an upgrade. You may be referring to the early 2ax, which used the same larger dome (1 1/8 inch), red/orange dome tweeter as the AR-3. In this case it is not an "upgrade", as both models used the same tweeter.Roy
