JKent
Once again, I'm asking forum members for some help. I have a couple of KLH Model 21 FM radios that I'm restoring, but I just bought a Model 21 AM/FM radio. I've never seen one with AM, and I was surprised that the Model number is the same as the FM only model. Anyway, here is a photo. I have not received the radio yet, but here's my question:It looks like the grille cloth is loose. Is this the original cloth? If not, what did the original look like? Anyone have a picture? I checked the Library page, but no dice. Thanks!
Andy
That's a later model 21, about 1972, they added AM on later models. that grill cloth looks to be a replacement, the original was a black foam type that was known for disintegrating. Some folks think KLH got a bit cheaper with construction and materials in the 70's (Kloss had been gone for about 5 years). But the electronics and sound should be as good as earlier models. JKent
Thanks Andy. Any idea where to get some replacement foam? Also--was it brown or black? Thanks againKent
