KlausDK
Hi VernIf it was a 10 Ohm resistor, could it have been as a bypass over the big 5000 myF Caps, like it was later used in the AR 10Pi's as standard?Very interesting work here, by the way, to adapt the new replacement tweeters to the LST/#a speakers.BR Klaus

frankmarsi
>Frank,>>Attached is an LST schematic from the Library. >>I've indicated in red where an inductor and resistor will need>to be placed in parallel with the tweeters to make your LSTs>more compatible with the AB Tech tweeter. You can begin>planning how to tackle your crossovers while Ken tweaks his>data. >>The single inductor and resistor shown in the first schematic>can be substituted with 4 inductors and resistors of the same>values in parallel with EACH tweeter, as shown in the second>schematic. That approach, while allowing work to be done>through the tweeter holes, would be more costly. It would also>require care to be taken to install the inductors some>distance away from the tweeter magnets to keep the inductors>from being affected by them.>>It appears the series tweeter capacitor will remain the same>(6uf). >>At our request, Ken tried to get as close as possible to the>original tweeter's performance with minimal crossover changes>in order to keep the conversion as simple as possible.>>Roy
frankmarsi
>Hey, this is all finished, and I thought James (at my lab)>sent it out some time ago. I'll look into this Monday. >Meanwhile, feel free to discuss details here. The 2nd-Order we>came up with is a go! >>-k>>www.kenkantor.com>>http://kkantor.spaces.live.comO.K. fella, where is it? I'm out here sweating my life away and still no word or simple diagram from you. But wait, there's more, if and when you finally divulge this secret information, there might be an invitation waiting for you and Ming and Vern and Bret and Soundminded and RoyC and everyone else whose ever given mefive minutes of their time to indulge my lunacy. I talking about coming to my new 'digs' which might be ready for occupancy this winter which will afford me spare bedrooms for those who just can't leave, and of course my 'taught-to-me' by my 'very' Italian, first generation in this country (1927) "mamma mia", home cooked diner, heh... pass the wine. I'm talking about sitting back,(heh, pass the vino), excusing your self and lossening your belt and zipper fully stuffed feeling of good food enjoyment. Some listening and then some more food and wine, then more listening. Yes folks besides being a devoted AR lover, I'm a pretty good Italian cook too.I should've had my own show, with a wall of LSTs playing Verdi and Puccini as a background, on set.But of course the meeting and visit will be to hear my newly arranged AR/PL system and spending some quality AR listening and conversation time, but when we sit-down at the table, all must be present! Now that's Italian! Finish what's in your dish der, will-ya!Who's friend? Frank Marsi
RoyC
Hey Frank, I wish I had stopped in here before posting in the other thread. Hell, I'll deliver and install the parts for you if you're serving Italian meals and vino! Your friend :-)Roy
kkantor
Uh, the dog ate my homework....Seriously, thanks for bugging me. The work is all done, and my tech Jim is writing it up. He's just back from two weeks on the road. As of this afternoon, the report will be done in: "2 days, or so."Meanwhile Roy, John, Bret and Minh have all seen my conclusions and are starting to improve on them. Having said that, bribery will get you far, especially when it comes to me and food. -k

O.K. and I will, just understand that I'm getting all these loose ends together same as I'm rebuilding my speakers and system. I want to happen as I mentioned, and hopefully it's gonna be this year, now things are pressing and time is not always there when work is due, we can all attest to that my broth....Well you get the idea. Still the word is out, you spoke up first about this task at hand and there's not much else happening in the world, so I'll await your word. This whole idea is much anticipated by me, you can't believe my jubilation! My friend, and soon everyone's, Frank Marsi
