Bob Anastasia
I have a pair of EPI 200C speakers that don't quite sound right. There is plenty of bass. The treble sounds extended (at least to my 65 year old ears). However, the mid-range sounds a little recessed and dull. The woofers and tweeters are Human Speakers replacements. The passive radiators are original. They're all in good shape and appear to work properly. The tweeter adjustment controls have been bypassed. The single capacitor crossovers have been replaced with 15uF Audyn capacitors. I think the problem has to do with the cabinets. Whatever damping was originally used in the cabinets is gone and has been replace with Blackhole 5 lining the back, top, bottom, and sides. Could removing the Blackhole 5 correct the mid-range? If so, what (if anything) should I replace it with?
