xpat
11 months ago, I posted about cleaning the midrange and tweeter pots of my AR5's, and adding a thin coat of dielectric grease. (For those who have not heard of dielectric grease, it is the material used on the boots of spark plug wires. It protects electrical connections and wiring from salt, dirt and corrosion and is required for modern high energy ignition systems. I decided to experiment with the grease because it inhibits corrosion, stands up to extreme heat, and hopefully has no effect on the passage of electricity. After 11 months, the pots on both speakers work throughout their range (min to max) and have no "drop outs". Also, I have not experienced any loss of musical material. I'll keep you updated every so often and report how this material is holding up over the long haul. Regards to all, Xpat
genek
I wouldn't expect to see anything change for the first five years or so. I didn't use a think coat on my level controls. I pretty much potted them.
