owlsplace Posted October 11, 2016 Report Share Posted October 11, 2016 for sale pair of Acoustic Research AR-5 speakers new unopened in original boxes from the late '60s or early '70s. these were acquired from a US service member stationed in Germany in the late '60s who purchased a set of four AR-5s intending to set up a quad system. shortly after the purchase he was shipped back to the states and never got around to building the quad system. amazingly he held on to the set of speakers for nearly 50 years never opening the boxes. These are the exact same speakers I bought in 1974 .... If I had the spare change I would drive over the hill and get them just for the sake of nostalgia. These are not mine by the way. I posted it for general reference. They are currently on the auction site at ebay# 331996148422 Notice the butyl sealant AR used on woofer foam which TomT mentioned was also used on the AR-3a surround.
