RobHolt Posted February 13, 2014 Report Share Posted February 13, 2014 You also need to change the capacitor in series with the tweeter.This is 20uf on the 4x and 10uf on the 4xa.Levels should be ok if you retain the original adjustment control.Leaving the smaller xa tweeter running from the original capacitor will give a more uneven response and overdrive the tweeter, reducing its power handling.I've found you can actually go smaller still on the cap value to 6-8uf range and get a slightly flatter response. I'm pretty sure that's because the tweeter itself is largely responsible for roll-off at it's bottom end. It has a measurable fundamental resonance around 1.8khz and naturally declines in output below that frequency pretty sharply, even if you feed it full range. That's good fundamental design where the driver is doing most of the response shaping.I'd get a 10, 8 and 6uf cap and experiment Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
