MtnBob
Anyone have, or know where to find the schematic for an AR-48s XO?Particularly curious about the values for the inductors. As an aside, anyone wonder why inductors seem to be the only electronic component that is usually NOT clearly labeled as to it's value?TIA

Any ideas why AR decided to do it that way?
Pete B
HI Pete:That's a pretty unusual schematic with regard the polarity of the wiring to each driver. Any ideas why AR decided to do it that way?The woofer is in phase with the input because if we are able to hear absolute phaseat all, it is in the bass. The mid and tweeter are in phase suggesting that their second order electrical rolloffs, combined with the driver's acoustical response require this connection to put the drivers in phase at the XO - this is fairly common. The mid is out of phase with the woofer, probably because this was the required connection to make the fairly simple woofer to mid crossover "work".The series connection of the woofer and mid saves one inductor, L3 is essentially shared, rolling off the highs to the woofer, and lows to the mid.L3 is roughly a short at DC and blocks LF from the mid. MtnBob
Thanks, Pete. I knew it was kinda different Not sure why search didn't turn that page up Thanks again - curiousity satisfied - for now
Pete B
Thanks, Pete. I knew it was kinda different Not sure why search didn't turn that page up Thanks again - curiousity satisfied - for nowI only put the page back up when you asked for it.Are you rebuilding a pair of these? Do all your drivers work, if so?

Actually I picked up a pair for nothing - missing one woofer, foam shot on another, surrounds gone on both mids, one tweeter dead.Think they must have had a hard life Not sure what to do, just couldn't resist free!
