Guest BruceL Posted June 21, 2008 Report Share Posted June 21, 2008 Good day allWas handed a pair of the Smaller Advents. Upon inspection, the tweeters seem fine. Woofers foam in terrible shape. Hooked them up. Sound from twetters that beautiful advent sound. Posted June 23, 2008 Report Share Posted June 23, 2008 Welcome,I've never had any of the Smaller Advents but, generally, if you lay the woofer on its back (magnet) and feed in a signal, you should hear a fairly clear sound without much bass, of course. See if they sound about the same. Laying them on the back keeps the voice coil fairly centered (the spider is still attached) so the coil form won't rub on the pole piece.Also, if you have access to an ohmeter, measure the resistance of the voice coil. I would imagine that the woofers in the Smaller Advents would be around 3 ohms DC resistance being that the system is four ohms impedence.Doug Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
