Dynaco A-45 speaker system

Hi there;

I was watching the pair of oil walnut Dynaco A-45 speakers on ebay, until it ended a few minutes ago.

Sniping drove the price from under $60.00 to $203.50 in the last minute.

This same speaker model was also listed a few months ago, a rariety.

I've downloaded a few of the photos that were used in that auction.

Notice the mis-matched woofers, this should bring up some discussion here.

I wouldn't mind listening to them.

Vern

Hi

those look like the pair R*ger W***. bought a year ago... when he received his pair it had also mismatched tweeters. He bought a matching Scan-Speak Tweeter, but never got a matching pair Scan-Speak-woofers for them. I found some in Switzerland, but he didn't like the shipping price he would have had to pay. Guess he just sold them, because he didn't finish them til now.

what was the auction no? I want to know were the sellers from and his name.

203$ is a lot for those in this condition. I paid 150 for my pair in pretty good condition w/o grilles.

I see a fifference to my pair:

"Original grills, missing one logo, all original Dynaco drivers."

I guess it's not the guy I know that bought the pair i described above. He was from colorado.

Wonder how I missed these. I always watch Dynaco Speakers on Ebay. Funny how both pairs have been hybrid Scanspeak and SEAS. I'd never heard of them before, and they're not mentioned on Greg Dunn's website, so they must have been available only in Europe or something.

I don't know them as "Dynaco", only as "ScanDyna" A-45x, and i guess they were usually only dedicated to the european market.

Guest ScanDyna A-45

Hi!

Just came across this discussion and thought I'd give it a try:

I'm a proud first-owner of a pair of ScanDyna A-45 (4 Ohm, white body, good condition) and would be willing to sell if the price is right... Just: I live also in Switzerland...

In case of interest, just drop me a mail. Thanks.

Hi there;

It seems we have several model A-45 speaker systems manufactured.

This pair even have another oval driver that is not on any other pair I've seen before.

I read somewhere recently that Dynaco only distributed the Dynaco A-25 speakers in North America.

There is a big difference of distribution and actually manufacturing a product.

There may have only been a contract for Scan/Seas to provide the specified speaker system at x amount of money per unit.
