thiptoman
I have a pair of these speakers that I would like to upgrade. Is their anything I can put on their fabric surrounds that would make them air tight or at least allow the woofer to function properly? Air is passing thru their fabric surround, bass is weak as a result.Any tried and proven technics will be greatly appreciated.
Guest rickcee
Hi someone brought this up maybe 6 months ago - KLH ? I tried 'resealing' the surrounds on my KLH 17 cloth rolls with 2 thin coats of common rubber cement brushed on - not 'contact cement' - kids paper project - and lo and behold, I think there was somewhat less 'hiss' ? ? totally unscientific observation. anyway Rick
Guest
I posted this once and don't think it took. If it shows up twice ignore one....I've used black RTV rubber silicone to treat the cloth surrounds on a pair of KLH Model 32 woofers with great success. Just rub a thin layer into the cloth and let it dry. It will permanently preserve them as well as maintain a good seal and won't stiffen or change the compliance. You can get this at most any auto parts or hardware store. Ace has it here.
