Removing AR-3a Midrange metal protection screen?

Hi... new here. I'm restoring some 1969 AR-3a's. I have one Midrange driver that likes to cut out occasionally. All the circuitry, potentiometers and wiring test fine. Therefore, I'm inclined to think that it may have a loose or broken lead wire near the voicecoil.

Here's my issue... the metal protection screen surrounding the coil looks to be solidly "hot glued" in place. I was wondering if there's a method to remove this screen without damaging the coil and its cardboard surround?

Thanks
