jonwb
Hi... new here. I'm restoring some 1969 AR-3a's. I have one Midrange driver that likes to cut out occasionally. All the circuitry, potentiometers and wiring test fine. Therefore, I'm inclined to think that it may have a loose or broken lead wire near the voicecoil. Here's my issue... the metal protection screen surrounding the coil looks to be solidly "hot glued" in place. I was wondering if there's a method to remove this screen without damaging the coil and its cardboard surround? Thanks
rjr513
Try Toluene or Acetone but use sparingly around outer edge where grille is glued to faceplate ,as glue softens you then will be able to lift screen off

jonwb
I assume a screwdriver is a good choice for lifting the screen?

jonwb
Worked very well thanks! I managed to repair the intermittent midrange AND find a broken lead on a non-working one. Both are now sounding great now.
