i have a full Acoustic Research ar1 ar15 and center channel soundstage with older carver amplifiers---some i am no longer using if interested..my problem is that the AR1's have lost (blown)their tweeters again, i think i know why now...55-11-014-1 is the number on the back of the magnet and 5-11-014-1 on the other...Where can i get another pair or any replacements that are better? can i replace the diaphram or the whole tweeter with another brand? does anyone know who made these particular tweeters or the specs? thanks in advance for your help..this is driving me mad and i would rather not sell the lot for something else but it has crossed my mind...it has happened twice so far...Please let me know....Thanks, Dave vetter345@aol.com

Hi David;

You don't mean the real old (50+ years old) AR-1's do you?

They would be using an 8" tweeter made by Western Electric or Altec.

If so, that tweeter is as valuable as gold.

Those tweeters alone go for $500.00 +/- each on ebay.

I have seen tweeter re-cone kits for sale on ebay.
