Guest tmar
I ordered a replacement Midrange for my AR11's from AB Tech Services. Unfortunately the hole pattern for the mounting screws do not match the OEM Midrange. The question is, what now? Can a Midrange be repaired, I don't think so?How/where might I be able to get a new or used Midrange that will work/fit.Anyone that can help, it would really be appreciated,Terry
Pete B
Hi Terry,How did this midrange fail, is it an open circuit on an ohm meter? Does it distort at increased listening levels?I've done driver repairs since I was a kid, back then mostly to learn about drivers and to improve their performance (adding damping) and reliability. I've worked on many tweeters, some 2" midranges, and some woofers. There was a company in Europe that was repairing the dome drivers, I don't know of any others. It's usually not cost effective.Have you compared the sound of the replacement to the other original driver?Pete B.>I ordered a replacement Midrange for my AR11's from AB Tech>Services. soundminded
Given any consideraton to drilling additional holes in the frame of the new driver? Just a thought.
Guest Bret
Terry,Does that replacement driver look like the original, or does it lack the foam insert and grill?AB Tech once sent a friend of mine upper midranges for a 9/90 when he asked about the 10pi.Used midranges come available on eBay with some regularity and I would suggest you start there; but you may have to buy six to get two that sound alike.Bret
mluong303
Hi, TerryCan you email me close up pictures of the front and back of the replacement midrange you bought from AB Tech. I may be able to identify and let you know what you got and what should be done.Minh LuongMluong303@aol.com
