Just Around the Corner

Hi there;

Soon, I will have completed scanning and burning literature, supplied by Wally, to be sent to, Mark, for addition to the library.

There is quite a nice stack of various brands and models, thank you, Wally.

Some are, perhaps, for future forums.

Also just around the bend, is my commentary on music re-corded to cd by Joe.

I was anxiously awaiting it arriving, as, Joe, was obviously very caring in me knowing how and what he did during the complete process.

I did sample it and it is pure delight, a more thorough test in the very near future.

Another test is of the AR-2, which a friend gave me.

Unfortunately, it has really been tinkered with and I have to dig more into it.

Along with that AR-2 and another one that I have received, a super test with the MicroAcoustics Microstatic Tweeter Array, Thank you, B.

This combination with Joe's cd and I will be in 7th heaven, thank you.

It is amazing how fast time flys.

I usually have the weekend, at least Saturday evenings, to have hifi sessions.

Having a home that always needs repairs and only able to do 1 - 2 hours a day, hifi has taken a back seat for months.

I have been looking for a protective, non-conductive and non-flammable rear heat shield, for the two most readily available pots, one Ohmite and the other Chinese.

When I find something acceptable, I will post that on this site as well.

Wally has kept a nice collection of classic speakers and electronics catalogs, test reports and manufacturers literature.

I am nearing the end of the stack, numerous hundreds of pages.

Wally will be receiving his collection soon and Mark will have a disk set of it, as well as Wally.

I already commented on my superb enjoyment of his incredible recording work, a true craftman.

I will need to dig into this altered classic.

This test is coming closer, it is amazing how there is only 24 hours in a day and I wish there was much more to do everything I want to do.

I haven't had this luxury for many, many months now.

Need I repeat myself here again? I think not!

I have located what I consider to be a reasonable compromise, now that there is, or at least was, less that 25 pots available on this planet.

I visited our Chinatown here, 2nd largest in North America, numerous times for something like a Chinese tea-cup to act as a heat shield and be non-conductive.

I was going to use RTV red adhesive to attach it, until I saw that it is $25.00 CDN a tube and will attack the copper wire, DUH!!

Vern,

Don't I know what you mean by house repairs. Been catching up for years it seems. When I get a chance, someday?, I am going to look for something for a pot cover down here is SoCal. In the meantime, did you think about trying a dab of latex caulk instead of RTV. The red rtv is good for exhaust manifolds, where I have used it in the past, but I don't think that the pots would generate that much heat. Just something to think about.

Also, good job on getting more info for the library scanned. We all appreciate the time it took and the valuable resource it will be

Hi there;

Wally and Mark will be receiving their disks next week for all of the literature Wally so kindly mailed to me, at his cost, to scan and burn.

When the package first arrived, I thought only about 100+ files, well, 600 plus files later, we now have them on disk.

Wally has taken good care of these non-replaceable pieces of history.

My replacement scanner is not of the quality I would have liked to use but beggers can't be choosers.

Thank you very much Wally for helping keep the data alive.
