Guest mocdni
Help!! Where might a person get a couple of the metal AR labels that were on the front of the speaker grills?
Guest Droog
One see's them on ebay.........look for the right type for your speaker. The early one's read 'AR inc'. and were used up to 1969 on the 2ax (serial number 125,000 or lower & cloth surrounds on the woofer). The later type read 'AR Acoustic Reserch' and were used on speakers with foam surrounds on the woofer.

JeffS
What version of the 2ax do you need the tags for? Today, I removed the drivers from a set of first version cabinets, because the cabinets were to rough to refinish. I also saved the tags. The screw came off of one but you can have them if you like. Guest Droog
Sorry...... Steve F is right - later versions had the kind that read 'AR-2ax'. Which models had the kind with Acoustic Research spelled out ?
charger3834
Well, if we really want to get technical, we should note that pre SN 125000 versions of the AR-2ax also have an "a" logo in the right hand corner. This is of course, in addition to the aforementioned "AR Inc." brass plate that exists in the left hand corner. This "a" denotes that the speaker had a 1 3/8" dome type supertweeter. This visually differentiated the speaker from the AR-2x. This "a" was also used to differentiate the AR-2a from the AR-2. In a older thread, Steve F discussed the fact that additions of dome drivers, or changes to domes, would be denoted by an "a" in the model number. Just as an "X" denotes an addition of, or a change to, a cone driver. And yes Steve, I remember that the AR-4xa was the exception.
