thanks
can you , if needed repair those cloth surrounds with foam ones
-
another one...
so which is the one to really go for I now have an option on a pair of 2A's as well, I'll prob get them anyway but wondered
are the woofers , apart from the cloth surrounds, the same as the later 2AX . are they interchangeable
-
Why, mostly the 3 hour drive each way , I'm talking to him so will let you know
EDIT next time he's down near me I'll get them , so maybe couple of months maybe less
thanks for everyones input
-
so here are his pics
so obv need refoam , also he said ...
They sound fantastic. Pots all seem to be working although one mid is not so smooth so probably needs a look at
reckon I'm going to pass on these

They look nice but I’m skeptical about “untested “. How hard is it to test speakers? The seller has a very good feedback rating. I’d ask for pictures with the grilles off. If the drivers look good then maybe worth it
good feedback for sure but none of it for hifi and yes I'd love to see behind the grilles but feared of how much damage he may do "unglueing" them or if he'd even be prepared to do that

lovely , wondering wether I should make the three hour journey to get these

I don't see the problem
There isn't a problem
The manual says "4 to 16 ohms dependant on switch positions"
I just like to know in what position to set the switches for 4, 8 or 16ohm

Great pic David , whats the turntable, looks like a Sansui ?

what position the switches should be in for 4, 8 and 16 ohm
I would

I've read that the highest is 16 ohm but was on a site that lists all AR speakers and their specs. The AR Manual would be more accurate.
It is 4 to 16 ohm its just the switch position thats confusing me

I leave mine in the 4 ohm position as my amp is internally wired for 4 ohm.
So David, your photo shows the switches all to the right position so 4pi and 0db are 4ohm , thanks , was getting confused lol

The 10Pi level controls actually change the impedance of the speaker (4 to 16 ohms)
So the three level control switches , bass pi 2pi 4pi , mid and high -6db -3db 0db actually change the impedance so 4ohm is pi / -6db I thought they were all about sonics or is impedance sonics
Sorry new speakers for me
Thanks to all for your help

Thanks, yes been looking at vintage Japanese amps just dont know how much power is needed and wether I need to get an amp that has speaker outputs that will serve 4ohm speakers

Leak Stereo 70.
No phono input , is 35w into 8ohm per channel enough to power AR10s ?
Consensus seems to say they are power hungry ?

And finally back in , thanks to all for the advice
-
Thanks , but really after something a bit more vintage , and not needing any of the digital parts , streaming usb etc of a Vena , my main usage would be vinyl
-
help needed on choosing an integrated amp that will go with my newly acquired AR10s , any recommendations appreciated
I'm in the UK looking to spend up to about 500 on a second hand amp and a bit confused as to what to choose especially with the 4 to 16 ohm impedance of the AR10s

Although I'm more than satisfied with what I've chosen and use as my favorite tone arms, no harm in considering others. I'm curious as there were two models, one more costly than the other, the 'Standard' and the 'Phonomac' which do you have, how would you describe its particulars/performance?
Only have the standard one , the Phonomac from what I gather is vastly improved with different bearings etc and at some cost I believe if they re still making them
AR2x new acquired...another one...
