Source for 12" surrounds

Hi all,

As we all have, I am struggling with the question of whether to do my own surrounds on a pair of standard AR 12" woofers. I have done the 10" woofers with Simply Speakers surround kits and it was a breeze. However when I used their surrounds for the 12" woofers, I had a terrible time. The inside diameter of the surround was nearly equal to the outer diameter of my cones, leaving wme with virtually no overlap. Eventually I shipped them to Simply Speakers and they did them fine.

But now I am ready to take another shot. So here is the big question. What is the best source for surrounds for the AR 12" woofer (3a, 11, 10pi, 9, etc) ?? I am particularly interested in making sure that the surround inside diameter is small enough so there is ample overlap with the cone. Would appreciate the feedback of all those who have tackled this themselves. I am disposed to doing this without cutting out the center cap, thus depending on the spider to keep the cone and coil centered. This seems a reasonable approach. Thoughts??

I found only two potential sources from google.

Simply Speakers

http://www.simplyspeakers.com/

SpeakerWorksNorthwest.

http://www.speakerworks.net/kits.html

Speakerworks Northwest looks very interesting. They lait a specific surround for ther "AR 11 inch" woofer. The dimensions given indicate that it is for what most refer to as the 12" woofer. They are even specifis about the angled surface on the cone edge, and have the r]proper cone diameter at 8 1/2 inches, and foam inner diameter of 18 1/16 inch.

Anyone have experiemce with these??

Thanks
