Guest iceman
I just recently found this forum and I am greatly impressed with the wealth of information that is available. Thanks to everyone who contributes. I have just been going through my old AR files and have found some factory correspondences from AR regarding fusing AR3a and other models, as well as bi-amping AR9s. Is there a place to post these items if anyone is interested? The fusing information I found very valuable. I had blown out the mid-range drivers on my AR3a on two separate occasions, and they were replaced under warranty by the factory. They sent me the fusing information, and after installing the fuses, I have never had another problem, although I have blown the fuses a few times. I also have my AR9s fused as well. Thanks for all the information.

Guest dogmeninreno
>How did you fuse the AR9s?>> Barry>>Barry, I used a single Bussman FNM 2 fuse (1 per speaker) as shown in the AR9 owners manual page 23. It is availanle on this forum under classic speakers. I am bi-amping now so I havn't a clue what should be used in that configuration. Dale in Reno..... Does it have to be this>particular fuse or can it be any dual-element 2 amp fuse?>>Thanks.Hi David;AR and Advent had both recommended, FNM Bussmann slow blow fuses in an open style fuseholder. They are a dual element type fuse, you really have to see a manufacturers selection to see the differences.Do not just try substitutions. These are NOT an equivalent to the more common 1/4" x 1 1/4" glass cased slow blow fuses.A little difficult to find in the smaller values and expensive (perhaps $5.00 each).Obviously if you live in a major city, such as maybe New York or Chicago, there probably is more hobby shops, or ham radio shops just for ideas as to where to shop for them.Do a google on Bussmann, peruse their catalog at their website, also Littlefuse FLM slow blow at their website. There is a lot of different type fuses, for many different purposes.I read somewhere recently at ava.com, that some English KEF speakers used a factory installed fuseholder. You can imagine trying to find a replacement fuse in North America. There is at least one source of supply that should google as well.I may be wrong, but, Digikey or Mouser, just to suggest 2 possible sources.Maybe someone else can suggest other choices and prices.Good luck. Supercooper188
Fuseholders are available from Mouser Electronics and Steven Engineering in San Franciso. The 4421 has to be back ordered, but they have a screw type 4515 which fills the bill without soldering. Cost is $4-$5. FNM-2 fuse are available at Lowe's ---$3.
