SHOKDU Posted November 24, 2012 Report Share Posted November 24, 2012 I know many people have run these speakers between 400-500 watts RMS, but has anybody taken these north of those numbers, up closer to 1000w RMS? Gerry S Posted November 25, 2012 Report Share Posted November 25, 2012 With the much smaller AR10pi, I was able to clip my Dunlap-Clark 1000 @ 500watts / channel rms easily. 1000 watt peaks are not unheard of as long as the power is clean and brief. Those rare uncompressed recordings containing brief transients like piano can drive large amplifiers into clipping without sounding very "loud" at all. Also, the difference between 500 watts and 1000 watts is only 3db....an audible increase but not a huge sonic increase. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
