tysontom
eBay item No. 170793834071http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649This interesting pair of AR-3s has some bids now and has about a day to go before ending. What the seller isn't describing is that this pair was originally a pine-plywood cabinet (actually a desirable cabinet style for any AR speaker) veneered-over in walnut-grain, plastic counter-top-like laminate. The plastic laminate is chipped in some places, giving away its ugly plastic identity. The speakers themselves could be fine, but the cabinet presents a problem. The white "circle" seen under the grill is most likely the white butyl substance AR used with the midrange to seal the gap, but it usually doesn't show through the grill.--Tom Tyson
Tom H.
Good eye Tom. I glanced at those and didn't notice the fake "vernier". I hope whoever buys these realizes what they are getting. It always irks me when you see a picture of everything on a speaker but the side, top and bottem panels. I hate it when you can't see what kind of shape the cabinets are really in.Looks like the mods need to boot some spammer off the site!
