Guest John Faulkner
I just got some 10" woofers that look ALMOST identical to the woofers in my AR-2a, but not quite. They are the six bolt aluminum frame model with cloth surrounds, the frames say AR inc., the magnet structure looks the same, but the cones do not have the thick damping ring around the dust cap that I have seen on every AR-2a woofer. I got them from a fellow who said they came from some sort of AR-2a clone with inverted dome tweeters. Any ideas? I thought I would just keep them around in case one of my 2a woofers failed but wonder how close of a replacement they are.front of new woofer back of new wooferOriginal woofer
Carlspeak
These are probably some intermediate stage design between the original cloth surround Alnico magnet, phase ring and the plain cone stamped steel frame types.Yes, hang on to them for spares. They should work find when needed. Check the surrounds for numerous pin holes. You may want to apply some of the Permatex sealant recommended by Roy C.
