painting cones????

have models 17 and 20,

by today's standards, these are very ugly speakers,

tan grill cloth, unfinished faces,screw terminals,etc.

cones look very ugly,

can the cones be painted black,

with what, felt marker, sharpie,latex paint,?????

or should one give their head a shake,

and look for a better project/upgrade

If you replace the grille cloth and use the grilles, you shouldn't have to worry about the look of the woofers. However, if you must paint them, Parts Express sells some woofer gloss paint that's supposed to give the woofer a wet look. Use as thin a coat as possible as you will be increasing the mass of the cone and thus alter it's performance.
