Repairing a minor tear in a Dynaco woofer

There are two pair of Dynaco A-25s currently on Ebay. I am considering buying them, as the cabinets are in only fair shape and I am good at making tired old cabinets look beautiful. And I can make new frames and screens for the pair missing the same. But one of the woofers has a minor tear in it. Does anyone know of the best way to repair such a tear? Or should I just let it go and replace the woofer? One person I know said she has repaired many a woofer cone using clear nail polish. Would nail polish work on a Dynaco A-25 woofer cone? The surrounds appear to be in perfect shape; I'm talking only about the cone itself, which I assume to be made of some sort of doped paper. Thanks for any help!

Hi there;

I might suggest a small amount of rubber glue from the rear of the cone after closing the gash a much as possible.

The gash isn't that large, and if the price is right.
