Large Advent Home Theater

I have four pairs of New Large Advents. I got to thinking about how good they would work for a home theater system.

Front speakers - double pairs of Large Advents stacked

Center channel - one Large Advent directly under the screen

Rear speakers - pair of Large Advent

"Subwoofer" - one Large Advent directly behind the viewer/listener, filtered for sub 40 Hz.

If driven by a 7.1 receiver with at least 100W/channel adjusted for two front channels the sound could be just amazing.

The "subwoofer" would just add some additional bass for effect. What do you think?

Hi there;

We supply the movie and the popcorn. lol

I think the only thing lacking is, us, as an audience.

You will have an awesome sounding system.

It will put a lot of newer, more expensive systems to shame.

A very outstanding and affordable video system.

Good luck and please let us know of your completion and test.

>i take it new advent is much better then old 1970s advents

>that sounded scary, Am i correct ?

Hi there;

Sorry, I missed the, "New", in the first sentence.

I was referring to the earliest '70's models of course.

Actually, the raised tweeters, masonite woofers with oiled walnut enclosures, are my preferrence.

Vinyl is available at a lower cost and you won't hear the difference.

I don't think one can go wrong with the later models or even the very outstanding, Smaller Advents.

Matching quality is more important than which series of Advents.

Most brands on this site have several models with which one can use for a video sound system.

Owing to age, cabinet surface cosmetic defects are very common, but I for one, can't hear them.

yes nice looking speakers , are they foam or rubber surrounds on the bottom side ones ? metal or silk or other on tweeters ( not including the advents) ?

all components are stock, 1977 or '78 new large advent parts. some are from my original speakers, bought new in '77. all woofers have been refoamed (foam, not rubber), and the crossovers are original. and yes, those are advent tweeters on top of the tv. the center channel audio seems to come from the center of the tv. btw, no shielding was needed for the center channel woofers.

all-in-all, it sounds amazing! no one believes my HT is using 30 year old speakers. ok, 28/29, but who's counting?

oh yeah, thats a 53" tv, and the left and right doubles are 4' tall x 18" wide.
