Hi i was wondering about how much would it cost to get my smaller advents up and running again here is what i need. I need one orange 4 ohm tweeter the older scrambled egg i think thats what they call them. I also need 2 grills. I know its not a capacitator in the crossover itself thats blown. I know its the tweeter because i took a different tweeter and hooked it up to the terminals and its worked just fine. How ever i did not leave it in there i did not want to do any damage to the crossover because i did not know if the speaker was 4 ohms. So basicly i need to know where i could pick these parts up cheap. I hope you dont hate me for this but i was listening to my little hk 330 nocturne one day when the amp went into clipping and my tweeter on my advent blew. The grills were already wrecked from stains and the fiber board was broke.

Hi there;

The Smaller Advents are a nice small 4 ohm speaker with the, "fried egg" tweeters.

The tweeters are on ebay every so often as the sellers tend to strip speakers systems down to the basics to get more money.

The grill cloths, logos and crossovers as well.

The prices go up and down but one tweeter may run about $20.00 US +/-, the grill cloths, I haven't noted the prices, but plus shipping, handling and insurance.

The Harmon Kardon 330 was a nice unit, don't ever feel bad about what you own.

I assume the terminals you mentioned were the tweeters front exposed connections, or at least the connections the the rear of the tweeter.

A suggestion of mine would be for you to download and printout from the Advent library, The Advent manuals.

Fusing information is discussed in there.

Good luck and please keep us informed on your progess.

I tried signing up for a member ship at ebay but i get to the code that they are supposed to give me over email and they never send it. I am pretty much done trying on ebay maybe if i could buy from here?. I got 60 dollars to spend on that stuff so i would have no problems coming up with money. But the main thing i am worried about right now is getting the tweeter replaced i also noticed the treble seems to be drowned out by bass on my smaller advents and my larger advents. So when this happens i turn the bass down but treble still sounds weak. What would you suggest for this problem maybe new capacitators in the crossover?. But i wonder what values i would need to bring treble up so its more of a well balanced speaker. I am not really counting on cosmetics right now the boxes are in good condition one is darker than the other though. I kept all of the screws that i got out of the old tweeter. And i even kept the little styrofoam ring that goes under the tweeter to prevent sound loss all of that is in good condition too. The woofers and every thing else works and sounds good too i even got the foam ring on them fixed i redid it myself i redo alot of surrounds saved 80 dollars. Any help on what value capacitators i sould solder in there to bring treble up more would be appreciated. And when i get finished i am considering fuseing them what kind of fuses should i use? Thanks jeff

Hi Jeff;

Try Ebay again, Jeff.

If you are on AOL that may be the reason you didn't receive your password.

I was just reading recently about a disgruntled Ebay buyer going over to Amazon.com, so I went and had a look around.

There is a lot less in speakers and they all appear to be new, unless I didn't do something right.

It wouldn't be the first time.
