DaveD
Have any members who have restored KLH cabinets found a source for a near match to the late 60's to early 70's ivory or beige grille cloth? Or for the two different brown cloths used on either the 17 or the 23? These two were patterened brown and black, instead solid brown. If not, a vendor for a selection of grille cloths, other than Parts Express, would help me. If there are any types that users have found to be more acoustically opaque than the norm, a warning would be appreciated.
Guest palomar
Dave,One material that might work is burlap. It is not as acoustically transparent as more modern grill material, but KLH used some kind of dark material underneath their main grill material, and so if you use just the burlap, it might sound similar to the combination of KLH's grill plus 'dark material' combination.Gary
DaveD
Answering my own question...I find many choices on these two sites. Maybe the Acoustone FR250 type is pretty close to the KLH Beige. Many browns to choose from, none like the KLH ones, but some appeal to me. Also, some that look acoustically unacceptable, especially on the second site's three pages.http://www.acousticalsolutions.com/product...rille_cloth.asphttp://www.new-foam.com/fabric1.aspMaybe someone else knows of better choices.
