Hi Phil;

I did get your email this morning, Phil, thanks.

Maybe if you re-phrase what is or is not happening with your speaker, and then what you attempt to do, to change that.

I am not to sure exactly what is happening.

We don't usually squeeze anything in a speaker, but if you can re-describe step by step, I am sure we can be of some help to you.

My guess at this moment, and I am guessing, is that when you touch or push on the surround area you do get sound?

the woofer is dead. when i remove the front panel, however, and place my thumb and forefinger in a certain position on opposite sides of the cone (on the indentation near the outer edge) and press gently the sound comes through. the only thing i can surmise is that this somehow moves the square metal box at the rear of the cone and reestablishes some loose connection.

what does it mean to "fuse" my speakers? thanks and sorry for the amateurish questions. pk

Hi Phil;

No need to be sorry about anything here, Phil, we are all hifi buffs and not professionals.

All you have done is asked for our help.

Your problem is not unique to KLH speakers.

All I have been able to do so far is ask you to do a more detailed trouble shooting description.

When you remove any amplified signal going to the speaker, can you hear any kind of low level rubbing from the woofers voice coil when you just press it gently back and forth?

Fusing is another topic we can look at and discus later if you wish, Phil.

More help will come as members see your topic, Phil.

i don't know if it's coming from the voice coil, but there is rubbing when i push the woofer in and out around the outher edge particularly on one side. nothing really when i try to move it side to side or press on the center. thanks again. pk
