Refinishing KLH 20's

I know I posted here about refinihing KLH 17's and I'm sorry to say that I haven't done that yet but I got married last year and didn't have the time to refinish them. It will get done this year though, when the weather warms up!

The question about the 20's is thus. I have a pair that are scuffed andhave a couple stains on the finish. I was going to sand them down and clean them up and refinish them. Now I am going to power them with a NAD amp and a Rotel pre-amp. They are consequently going into the bedroom for my wife and I. Since my furniture is solid mahogany, I'd like to keep that deep, rich color scheme going. So I was going to refinish the walnut veneer with a dark, antique cherry or mahogany stain to get the same look and have the speakers match the rest of the room. So what I am wondering is, would doing that kill the value of the speakers at all?
