Guest dat521gatherer
i got these for free for my neighbor after he saw me sanding down some cabinets one day. generally i would have left them original but since there's so many out there i couldn't help myself. had these been ar 3's i would have let them be. basically all i did was remove the old glue from the face and primer them. i also primered the edges of the drivers except the one tweeter that doesn't work. i recovered the grills and put velcro on them. i accidentley flipped a grill and recovered the wrong side so now the grill badge is on the left instead of right. i know what your first question is and i cant answear it. i got the grill cloth fabric from a used store so i dont know the style or comp. i tried using some white burlap at first but it was way to hairy. all they need is a sanding on the cabinets with some oil and a recap with a tweeter. great little speakers. http://www.classicspeakerpages.net/dc/user_files/2811.jpghttp://www.classicspeakerpages.net/dc/user_files/2812.jpghttp://www.classicspeakerpages.net/dc/user_files/2813.jpghttp://www.classicspeakerpages.net/dc/user_files/2814.jpghttp://www.classicspeakerpages.net/dc/user_files/2815.jpg
joelongwood
Very nice restoration. These threads give me the incentive to do the same with a number of speakers I have...............................well, almost. I'm too busy listening. Enjoy and let us know what your impressions of the sound are.
