dynaco_dan Posted August 10, 2006 Report Share Posted August 10, 2006 >Can someone recommend speaker stands for a pair of AR 2ax and>a pair of AR 3a's(which I've just beccome the proud owner of)?>Thanks!Hi there;Two great classic speakers.Are you handy with either, metal fabricating or carpentry?There are a kazillion manufacturers of stands out there, with prices to suit.AR made several different models of stands.The original criss-cross pairs were 11" high and could accomodate all, but the smaller, AR-4's, AR-6's and AR-7's.They go for about $60 - $160.00 US for 4 pieces, which is two pieces per speaker, on ebay.They are solid walnut, but in my opinion, just at the right height for the German Shepherd, or company, to wag it's backside and knock the speaker right off the stand.The speakers should be off the floor sufficiently, to reduce the exaggeratd bass if they are on the floor.An average height might be, with the AR-3A standing upright, and with the mid range driver about ear level, when you are sitting and listening.You can kick out the bottom a few degrees of vertical and lower that height somewhat.This gives you a semi time-delay.More technical members can offer you more advice than this.Oh yes, fuse them too.Good luck.
