Hi Guys,

Glad to have found this Board from a link on Audiokarma

Anyway, I am in Western Australia and a few months ago I bought a pair of AR3a's in mint condition.

But they have sound problems.

One of them I can hear the woofer and tweeter, but no midrange.

the other I can hear the woofer but no tweeter or midrange.

The guy I bought them off said that he had to wiggle the switches at the rear to get the tweets and mids to work.

But now it seems them switches are no longer working.

Any pointers, info etc will be great.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!

From Downunder

Mark

G'day Mark;

Usually if you turn the pots from their furthest extremes which is about 180 degrees a few times, you will hear a, hair stand up on your back screeching, as you do turn them.

If you are listening to them, the speaker should cut in and out, until it stays on.

If you do that maybe, 5 times maximum, you should have a positve result.

I say 5 times, you are not going to break them, but usually that will give you at least minimal contact for now.

Please try that and get back to us with the results, please.

Good luck, Mark.

Hi Guys,

I tried the moving the switches as stated above, and nope ...... no sound.

Looks like I gotta take em apart and follow the Clean em up route.

Will keep you posted on how that goes.

Cheers!

Hi Mark or rather G'day Mark;

When you bought them were they working?

Did you try them before buying them?

If they were sold as working speakers, then do not open them up, contact the seller first.

At this point, with you having tried my first suggestion, it may be possible that those drivers are DOA.

Cleaning the pots is not a five minute job, other things can break in the process.

Please let us know what is happening.
