Guest ldone
I bought some refurbed ar3a's with the serial number on little tags. The numbers are 101914 and 101925.Is there a chart somewhere that lists the build dates with the serial numbers?I sprayed tuner cleaner on the pots but they are still very positional and mostly useless. Are there any modern replacement parts available for these old classics.TIA

However data that some of us have gathered privately says 1Q or 2Q 1976; the final year of AR-3a production.I sprayed tuner cleaner on the pots but they are still very>positional and mostly useless. >Are there any modern replacement parts available for these old>classics.Try searching this website for "AR-3a pots." Lots of information including photos of pots before and after cleaning with Dremel tool, etc. You have a great pair of speakers; well worth your time in cleaning the oxide from the pot windings and wipers and replacing any out-of-spec capacitors. When you open the cabinets you will likely find dates and part numbers stamped on the drivers. For example the last four numbers in the sequence 561-7603 give the year (1976) and the week (03) of manufacture of said part. There are many folk on this site who can give you asssistance in tackling restoration beginning with carefully removing the woofers.
