It is used to customize the speaker mid and tweeter levels to your room enviroment. Start at 0db and experiment is the inly way I have done this..Good luck, Dale
Guest bocoogto
Interesting post!!I've never seen AR3a's with a switch on the back. All AR2's, AR3's, and variations of those models had pots for tweeter and mid. Does it also have the pots? KLH used a switch like you describe on the Model 6 speaker two-way system manufactured about the same time as the AR3a. It is "flat" in the center position, increase highs in the up position, and decrease highs in the down position.Does anyone else have knowledge of AR3a's with a switch like these? Guest mrhagerty
On this switch, there is only a fully left or fully right position. there is no middle position for 0 db.The European version of the 3a is unique as to controls, so I didn't expect the pots for tweeter and mid.It does seem that in one position the highs are brighter than at the alternate position.MRH
