I can't throw these speakers out or sell them. I enjoy the listening experience and the cabinets are in excellent shape. I need help with suggestions on tweeter replacements, either original equipment knock-offs or modern products that won't cost me an arm and a leg.

You can occasionally find those tweets on Ebay....as for what is a suitable replacement, dunno. Layne Audio claims to have upgrades for lots of AR speakers, but gook luck trying to contact them.

eBay first, but if that fails try calling AB Tech in MA and ask them what they are currently selling as a replacement for that driver. They used to be (maybe still are) the "official" parts guys for the old AR speakers.

AB Tech:

I did get in touch with AB Tech. They told me they had a replacement similar to the original except with a plastic cone. They we unable to forward a spec. sheet or photo but were able to quote me a price of around $31.00 each (plus shipping). Plastic troubles me as well as buying something blind.

Thanks for the replies.
