Guest baumgrenze
I dropped off a pair of AR-5's with a Marin County rebuilder for refoaming earlier this year. Recently they told me that I should give up on rebuilding them because one tweeter is gone and they cannot find a replacement. Not being one to give up 'easily' I searched and found Layne Audio's name as a source. Unfortunately, email to them bounces. Their phone rings many times and finally defaults to a message that says that the message box is full.1) Is Layne closed for vacation or are they no longer in business?2) Will it be possible for me to find a replacement tweeter even though my rebuilder gave up?Thanks
Guest ar1994
Hi, No! Don't give up. Original AR parts are available. AB Tech services still has that tweeter. Part #12100840 I believe. I just got some for my 3A's. And yes they are original, except the connections are made from the back. I found them after going through AudioVox who now owns AR. They only have an 800 number, it's 800-225-9847. Layne's no where to be found...

Many persons on this forun warn that this will upset the xover voicing? I don't know. Dale
ninohernes
It is a different impedence, and it will definatly shift the crossover point. Part of the equation to determine crossover point is impedence of the driver.
Guest pbda
I've had the same problem with Layne. During opening hours the phone is constantly busy, implying that someone is there.

AB Tech has many of the same parts, and get this: They actualy answer the phone!Good luck.-Brian
Guest dogmeninreno
Be carefull, I agree except that AB Tech only offered me 4 ohm drivers for tweeters as I recall but offered to install 4 ohm resisters in series with the tweeters which I question??
