I hate a for-sale being my first post, but for all the times I've read up on speakers at CSP, I didn't realize there was discussion board! But perhaps this is a good way to get these beauties into the hands of a fan of the brand.
I bought these CD-9s from a guy who had just bought a house and the original owner left these in his basement. I refoamed the woofers and my wife went over the veneer with new stain and the back panels with fresh black paint. I replaced all the original driver screws with stainless steel ones (the 30+ year old painted screws didn't look that great). Matched pair with consecutive serial numbers. The mids and tweeters all have individual protective metal grilles over them, so they have never been poked in.
ABS grilles are in overall good shape. A couple small cuts are barely visible from a distance.
They work great, and I love the way they sound, and how coherent the soundstage is no matter where you are in the room. The bass from that small cabinet is mind boggling. They inspired me to buy a pair of Von Schweikert VR-33's just to compare the two. Problem is, now that I'm off my high, I realize I have way too many speakers. Raise your hand if you can relate.
Asking a fair $600 for the pair. Based on ebay pricing for the drivers, I could part them out and get more than that, but I don't believe in taking high-end vintage audio out of circulation. I live in Hampton Virginia. I can demo them in my home, or if you already know what you're getting I am willing to drive up to 100 miles from home to meet.
